Artist's Comments

Made this in response to an HP ad where Jay Z claimed he was hip-hop's CEO.

Jay embodies none of the four elements.

if i may quote the MC One Be Lo, "Big cars, clothes, and chains, that aint hip-hop."

16x24/ oil, acryilic, block ink, stencil, and collage on canvas.

I like the image...

dissing Jay and also being a hip hop fan...

hmmmmm

tough

he is regarded as one of the greatest rappers

and i agree he is
:iconcheeny:
i usually hate materialistic rap but i cant help liking jay-z, besides all his songs aren't like that.
look at this excerpt from Lost One

Hov had to get the shallow shit up off him
And I ain't even want to be famous
Niggaz is brainless to unnecessarily go through these changes
And I ain't even know how it came to this
Except that fame is
The worst drug known to man
It's stronger than, heroin

no big cars, clothes, or chains.

still though, mad respect for the stencil real well done, specially with the money i think over all its a good representation of what rap is going through.

i respect the idea but jay is a kid who grew up poor and became rich by spitting lyrics (thats hip hop) and his job is a rapper, rappers are cocky, y are complanig about this and not the fact that he calls himself j-hova (jehova) pick your battles by the way hip hop pillars are :
breakers
mc's
graffete
and dj's
if not him who represents best for that

This isn't bad as far as artwork goes, but I can't agree with you about Hova. People like him offer hope to young minorities living in a racially biased society. For a lot of us its either rap, play basketball, sell drugs, or die before age 30.
